🗓 How it works

Once your Sell With Us spot is confirmed, you’ll have 7 days to prepare and send your box.
(You’ll receive an email with all the details on how to organise your courier pick-up once your spot is purchased.)

📦 You can use your own sturdy box - a nappy box or similar size (no larger than 28,000 cm³) is perfect. We do not send you a box or bag.

We’ll then handle everything - photographing, listing, and selling your items for you on The Thrifting Den.

Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ We receive and process your items.
2️⃣ Each accepted piece is photographed, priced, and listed on our website (usually drafted into our upcoming drops).
3️⃣ Items remain listed for approximately 2–3 months, with a final two-week sale period at 30% off to help clear remaining stock.
4️⃣ You’ll receive weekly payouts as your items sell throughout this period & access to an online portal to track it all.

💡 If you’re local to Auckland, you can drop off your box in Royal Oak — or if you have bulk quantities, you’re welcome to send more at your own cost (just email info@thethriftingden.com first).

💰 Payout Options

Payouts are made weekly as your items sell - there are no upfront payments.

We offer 2 payment options

1️⃣ Bank Transfer:
💵 Paid every Monday via bank transfer for the previous week’s sales.
• 50% or 40% of the sale price - for EUC / Like New / BNWT condition

🩶 Items listed as VGUC with minor flaws receive 20% less than the above rates. (ie. a 50% payout now becomes 30%)

2️⃣ Store Credit:
🎁 Issued every Monday as store credit - credit lasts for 12 months.
• 70% or 60% of the sale price - for high-demand brands in EUC / Like New / BNWT condition

🩶 Items listed as VGUC with minor flaws receive 20% less than the above rates. (ie. a 70% payout now becomes 50%)

💬 Payout rates vary by brand - please refer to the Accepted Brands List for a full breakdown before sending your items.

Example:
A $40 Hux item = $20 payout (50%) via cash or $28 (70%) via store credit.

You’ll also have access to your 24/7 online vendor portal to track your listed items, sales, and payouts anytime.

🏷️ Pricing & Earnings

All items are priced by The Thrifting Den based on brand, condition, current RRP and current resale demand.

We carefully research recent sale data and comparable listings to ensure every item is priced fairly and competitively. Our goal is to balance great value for buyers with fair returns for sellers.

📣 Selling through The Thrifting Den means your listings are shown to thousands of second-hand–loving parents across New Zealand - a niche audience actively searching for quality kids’ clothing.

💸 Items in premium brands and best condition will achieve the highest resale prices and payouts.

🩶 Items with minor flaws or obvious signs of wear are priced lower to reflect their condition.

Unsold items are included in a final two-week clearance period at 30% off before being processed as outlined in the Unsold Items section below.

What You Can Expect to Earn:
Earnings vary depending on the brands and condition of the items you send - but many of our regular consignors have made thousands through this service.

• High earners typically make $3–$4k, with our top earning reaching over $10k by regularly adding to their consignments.

• Most single-box consignments earn anywhere from a few hundred to over $1000, depending on brand mix and condition.

• The better the brands and the better the condition, the higher your payout.

• Items from less sought-after brands or with flaws will naturally earn less and be harder to rehome.

Every sale is tracked through your online vendor portal, where you can see pricing, payout rates, and weekly earnings in real time.

🏠 Requirements

Before booking, please note that not all brands are accepted for this service. You must check the Accepted Brands List to ensure your items qualify before sending.

We accept a curated selection of quality kids’ clothing from prem up to size 10 years, as well as children’s footwear and a very select list of ladieswear from approved brands.

⚖️ Minimum Requirements to Use This Service
You’ll need to send a minimum of 15 “Yes” branded items (as per our Accepted Brands List).
• Accepted “Maybe” brands do not count toward the 15.

🧺 Condition Requirements:
All items must be:
Freshly washed including footwear - no dirt or marks on footwear & no musty storage smells from unwashed clothing
• In brand new, like new, or excellent used condition (EUC)
• Free from stains, holes, pilling, wash fade, or other flaws aka zero flaws

🩶 Any items accidentally sent with minor flaws will be listed at a lower payout rate.
🚫 Items with major flaws will not be listed and may be returned at your cost.

💬 Tips for Sending:
• Examine items during the day in natural light - small marks or flaws can easily be missed under artificial lighting.
• If you wouldn’t buy it preloved or gift it on, it’s probably not right for this service.

📦 What happens to unsold items

We have a strong sell-through rate of 90%+, meaning most items sell during their consignment period - especially sought-after brands in amazing condition.

However, sometimes not everything sells, and not every piece will meet our acceptance standards.

Here’s what happens when items remain unsold or can’t be listed:

🩶 UNSOLD ITEMS (End of Consignment)
After your 2–3 month consignment period and final 30% off sale, you’ll be given three options:

1️⃣ Donate through Sunday Seconds & Dead Stock Sale
All unsold items will be included in our Sunday Seconds & Dead Stock Sale, with 100% of proceeds going to Nurturing Families - supporting families in need across New Zealand.

2️⃣ Have your items returned
We can return your unsold pieces to you at your own cost. Return shipping is charged based on package size.

3️⃣ Sell to The Thrifting Den at Closet Cashout pricing
We can purchase your items directly from you at Closet Cashout rates, based on the original full listing price (not the discounted sale price).

Brands not listed receive a 10% payout.

🚫 FAULTY OR NOT ACCEPTED ITEMS
If items are found to have flaws, damage, or unaccepted brands/sizing after inspection, you’ll have two options:

1️⃣ Return the items
Items can be returned to you at your cost - return costs can be deducted from your payout.

2️⃣ Add to a Seconds Sale
Faulty items may be added to a future Sunday Seconds Sale to be rehomed affordably.
Please note: any proceeds from these sales are retained by The Thrifting Den to cover processing and Shopify fees to rehome your items & keep them from landfill - there is no payout for these items.

💬 We handle all unsold and unaccepted items carefully to ensure they’re rehomed responsibly and nothing ends up in landfill.

🔒 Terms & agreements

By completing your booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to all information, policies, FAQs, payout details, timelines, accepted brand requirements, and terms outlined on this page.

📦 SERVICE AGREEMENT
• Sell With Us is a consignment service. Fees paid as part of the process cover shipping subsidies and any optional add-on services selected

• The service fee is non-refundable for any reason, including change of mind.

• This service is available to New Zealand customers only.

• All items sent must comply with our current Accepted Brands List, sizing requirements, and condition standards.

• The Accepted Brands List and service guidelines may be updated from time to time. Eligibility is determined based on the policies in place at the time your booking is assessed.

• Do not reattach swing tags to items that have been worn, washed, or previously used. Passing off used items as new is considered fraudulent and may result in your consignment being cancelled.

📦 SHIPPING & RECEIPT OF ITEMS
• You are responsible for your items until they have been received by The Thrifting Den.

• The Thrifting Den is not responsible for parcels lost, delayed, or damaged while in transit.

• All items are assessed upon arrival to ensure they meet our brand and condition requirements.

• Items that do not meet our guidelines may be declined, donated, recycled, returned at your expense, or redirected to another suitable service at The Thrifting Den’s discretion.

💸 PAYOUTS & OWNERSHIP
• Payouts are made weekly on Mondays as your items sell. No upfront payment is provided.

• The Thrifting Den determines final pricing, sale strategy, discounting, photography, listing details, and marketing at its discretion.

• You retain ownership of your items until they are sold.

• Ownership of an item transfers to the purchaser once it has sold and the transaction has been completed.

• Payout rates are those outlined on the Accepted Brands & Payout Guide and are accepted by the seller at the time of booking.

🚫 CANCELLATIONS & EARLY WITHDRAWAL
• If you no longer wish to proceed after purchasing a Sell With Us spot but before sending your items, please contact us as soon as possible. No refunds or credits will be issued.

• If you choose to cancel after your items have been received, processed, photographed, or listed, the following charges will apply:
– $10 administration fee
– $1 per listed item
– Return shipping costs

• These charges must be paid before your items are returned.

• If The Thrifting Den cancels your consignment due to non-compliance, fraudulent activity, or repeated breaches of our guidelines, your items may be returned at our cost and you will be advised of the reason.

📖 SELLER RESPONSIBILITIES
• It is your responsibility to review all FAQs, payout information, timelines, accepted brand requirements, and service details before booking.

• Items should be clean, freshly laundered, free from stains, excessive wear, strong odours, pet hair, mould etc.

• Any item sent outside our published guidelines may be declined.

• Repeated submission of unaccepted brands, unsuitable items, or unwashed clothing may result in future service requests being declined.

📦 UNSOLD ITEMS & ABANDONED ITEMS

• At the conclusion of your sale period, any unsold items will be handled according to the option selected by you during the process (return, Closet Cashout assessment, donation, or any other agreed option).

• If payment for return shipping is required, this must be completed within the timeframe advised.

• If no response or arrangement is received within 14 days of contact regarding unsold, declined, or returnable items, The Thrifting Den reserves the right to donate, recycle, rehome, or otherwise dispose of the items at its discretion.

⚠️ LIABILITY
• While all reasonable care is taken with your items, The Thrifting Den is not liable for loss, theft, accidental damage, fire, flooding, courier issues, system failures, or events outside of our reasonable control.

By booking a Sell With Us spot, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to all terms and conditions, policies, FAQs, payout information, accepted brand requirements, and service details outlined on this page.
